USC Hockey Club - JV Head Coach Opening!

Upper St. Clair Hockey is seeking applicants for a Head Coach and assistant coaches at the JV level for the 2023-24 season.  Interested parties should send their resumes to vpcoaching@uschockey.org by 4/28/2023. 

 

Head Coach Job Description:

·       Tryouts – Lead the evaluation of players in tryout sessions on multiple evenings, planned for the week of May 24.  This may include planning the drills to be performed.

·       Practices – Formulate practice plans and lead twice-weekly practices throughout season (typically Tue/Thu 5:50-6:50 but some slots may vary)

·       Games – Prepare team for games, manage players / playing time, and set team roster, which could include potential call-ups from practice squad (if applicable, depending on number of players).  Games could be once or twice per week throughout season.

Qualifications:

·       Strong leadership and motivational skills

·       Works well with young players, assistant coaches, and board members

·       Previous coaching experience (preferably head coach and/or at the high school level or amateur equivalent)

·       High-level playing experience preferred

·       Must be able to get USA Hockey coaching certification and all required clearances to work with players (SafeSport, etc.)

 

Assistant Coach Job Description:

·       Tryouts – Participate in the evaluation of players in tryout sessions on multiple evenings, planned for the week of May 24.  This could include leading the drills to be performed on the ice.

·       Practices – Participate in twice-weekly practices throughout season (typically Tue/Thu 5:50-6:50 but some slots may vary) and lead/demonstrate drills to be performed.  There may be instances when an assistant coach has to plan/lead practices.

·       Games – Assist in preparing team for games and managing players / playing time.  Games could be once or twice per week throughout season.

Qualifications:

·       Must be able to skate

·       Works well with young players, other coaches, and board members

·       Previous coaching experience preferred

·       Playing experience preferred
